Ok, I may not be a grader *yet*, but even I can tell that there seem to be a lack of organization with grades.

I realize that Galleon has had some issues with his hard drive:

so I'm not blaming him for the problem. What I'm saying is that why don't we create a system similar to the reffing logs where graders post the name, link, length, and results of the stories they grade so that Galleon, or whoever, can easily sort through the mess of pages upon pages of stories to see with ones are grades and what not.

I think this could at least help everything move more smoothly for graders and their wages.

Grading logs seems like a good Idea but does it really make any difference?

To be honest, though I can't say much, have you ever tried grading a story? Re-reading it multiple times, and then post reviews of them?

I think it takes around 20-25k chars to get 10000, which is much harder than quite a few people here can write.

    Thats not the issue.

As Zeferin was saying, Grader logs sounds like a pretty nice method of doing wages. I really have no complaints.

All he is suggesting is streamlining the system and making sure they get paid, not reducing the wage.

I suggested something along these lines in the stories chat thread; Nemo said it wasn't necessary. I assume they have their own system worked out for grading the grades, and without knowing what it is I don't know that we can really suggest improvements.

Yeah, the thing with the logging is that (forgive me my bad analogy) it only treats a "symptom." Wages aren't taking so long because fjording through the forum is time consuming; they're taking a long time because it's a time- and energy-consuming process that requires a lot of care. And, uh, because George's technology hates him. A lot. There are a few inner discussions about speeding up the process, though. We're on top of the problem. ...Belatedly, but still on top of it. It'll get sorted out. I'm hoping to permanently lower the wait period to three weeks.

    Also, because we in the upper tier grading staff are paranoid, we'd go looking through the pages anyway, and it'd be harder to find missed grades if we had to compare everything to a big list than if we'd gone through it and remembered locations ourselves. It'd actually end up taking longer. >_>;

Wages certainly are an incentive for graders to grade stories. Waiting for them is agonizing.

Perhaps a method to speed up grader wages is that the person conducting the wages doesn't necessarily need to explain why he or she paid that amount to the grader. Or perhaps leave only a simple, general statement rather than explain certain grades.

The downside is that graders won't receive the same feedback as before. George likes to do things his way and I won't deny him that. This is simply a suggestion.

Yeah, they have been passed to me, so I'm going to go at them like a madman. We need more graders to handle the backlog, and if graders don't get paid, a lot of people are discouraged from becoming graders/continuing to grade.

George was already doing that with the wages he had started. XD I'll finish them up in that method, probably. Although it doesn't take that much additional time... Most of the graders have the same floopses in a large number of grades, so general statements work, and are fairly easy to elucidate.

Didnt read the posts there^^, so dunno if its been said before. just make a thread, sticky it, and graders post a link to the story once its been graded, with some basic info as well. Don't see how that can make it any worse, and it takes out the whole crawling through forums looking for grades thing out.

The thing there is that there isn't any "crawling through forums looking for grades." The arduous aspect of the process is the actual reading of grades and the calculation of values.

I see, so if that is the problem, then really there isnt much that can help as i see it, bar getting about ten people to do grades to speed it up...

Paying Graders is a process of grading the grades they give for a value.

Every story that gets graded, another grade needs to be evaluated.
