ok so im drunk and this maybe dumb and scatter brain.

Ok so first of all i would like to point out something that is the core argument for my point and that is that basics where changed in order to stop people gaining money in urpg without contributing any real effort. The use of perma basics and throwing basics had become common place but due to a rules revision this has all but become a thing of the past. In fact what has stopped happening is people are no longer gaining urpg money for no effort at all on there part this is a precedent

Now FFA's i feel that people taking over for others is in fact similar to the situation above where people are earning money for no effort on there part. Now hear me out here folks, say i partake in a FFA and i have to go due to RL constraints ordinarily id be out at the beginning of the next round for failure to send. If i managed to however find someone to take over for me, and they managed to inflate my position by say two places thats money i have made for no effort at all.

Now i feel this goes against what has already been set out in the changes for basics, on top of this i feel that in the tournament setting of the FFA tournament that this is unfair as people are placing higher than they should based on those taking over for them. Now im not asking for anything to change now this was allowed at the start of the tourney and for consistency should be allowed until the end. but for future ffa's i dont feel that its very well thought out that people can gain money for no effort i meen in theory i could send wait for besty to turn up 10 minuites late and let him take over say he wins for me then i get the entire prize pot.

Now there is the option to split the money between the two players however i feel this is a crappy option for the ref having to split it up between the two it still also inflates peoples standings and i feel this is unfair on people making an effort for themselves ( i meen why should winter place higher than me when 90% of the effort was done by chainy just an example)

My point is that there seems to be an inconsistency in the rules in regards to making urpg money for no effort. At this point i have resigned myself to the fact that I wont finish in a placing position in the FFA Tournament but i still feel the issue of people taking over for others needs to be addressed. As i said the changing of the rules to basics where to stop abuse and gaining for no effort considering how many ffa's have been happening recently (not all of them tournament related) then i see this as an abusable way to make money in urpg for no effort. I also feel someone who would ordinarily be out due to not sending because they had to go placing ahead of someone who put the time in to play the ffa to its conclusion (at least for them) is unfair it also messes up the dynamic of ffa's part of the fun is figuring out whos who and if someone takes over for someone mid ffa that throws it off completely. There is also the issue of if for example ash takes over for MG, in this example we have a significantly better battler subbing in for one who isnt as good this is bound to have some impact on mg's overall standing in the ffa. Inflating his position and pay beyond that to what he may have achieved finishing the ffa for himself (obviously theres a huge element of getting lucky in ffa's but still)

    >Implementing FFAs aren't anything but luck and teaming in the first place.

Really, this has always been up to the ref anyway. If a ref doesn't want to allow a takeover, they don't. If they do, it doesn't happen even remotely enough to be an issue. The only time it's even happened was that one FFA where Airik got KO'd by one of them and the very first tourney FFA where Comm Subbed in for Hannah until she got back from an extended brb (and she got KO'd anyway). Other than that, I can't even think of any takeovers I've seen in several months.

I'm gonna answer this on the things I understand:

The point of taking over is having your mon compete even if you had to be somewhere (unfortunately). The taker probably took your mon so that he could enjoy the FFA, especially if he/she got out due to "reasons" like getting pseudo-Destiny Bond like Explosion or something. If he/she just wanted to feel the FFA fun and someone needs to go immediately, then it's a win-win situation.

I like the idea of splitting the money, but maybe if the two wanted to talk about it and they both agreed.

    Well, that's what I understand.

Winter the main focus of my argument is the gaining something for nothing element i cant argue about things occurring in the ffa tourney with an unbiased mindset cos damn right i was pissed that happened. However my initial rant did bring to mind and to light this significant inconsistency that goes against the precedent that you the staff have set with your revisions to the rules regarding basics. You wanted people to have to put in some effort in order to actually earn money in urpg this goes against that as they are earning money not based on there own effort but someone elses.

Something that ties nicely into this and fits in the bracket of something for nothing and ffa's is people sending for a FFA and then not participating just getting ko'd turn 1 for not sending and claiming a free 1k. Now i have no problem with them sending for the FFA (sometimes you need an extra body so it can even go ahead) but i do feel that a failure to send first round and automatic KO shouldnt result in free moneyz

also going back to the tourney the incident winter mentioned was a few days ago i took time out to decide if it was worth posting this and i feel that if we can have an intelligent discussion about it then it was worth my time and effort in posting

If someone doesn't send turn 1 of an FFA, as to my understanding, they weren't supposed to count as being in the FFA at all. This was demonstrated by SLC's FFA yesterday and also my own, in which Ataro didn't make it back for turn 1, so he did not count.

Correct. The ref is also allowed to exclude anyone who only sends for a single turn, if they believe it was only done to bump payments for others.

Taking over for someone probably shouldn't be allowed in a tournament environment.

Besides that, FFA's should be the least serious aspect of the URPG. Shut the fuck up and enjoy it.

so you take the least serious aspect of urpg turn it into a tournament and then this happens - regardless my issue isnt with the tournament it is with the situation you have created by setting a precedent with the rules you have created around basics specifically to prevent people getting money for doing nothing themselves, and not following through to other areas of urpg.

Basics were being abused for the ease in which money could be obtained.

I don't believe anybody intentionally plans to leave after the first turn and have somebody else earn cash for them, and even when they do the occurences are few and far between.

FFA's also usually occur on a much lower frequency, if not for a tournament currently promoting them.

The scale of the issue, in my opinion, is a lot smaller.

I totally agree with you that the scale is smaller but you seem to also agree with me that it is an issue. Which is all i really wanted to bring it to the attention of the staff and say hey look this doesnt really fit with what youve been setting out to do

and your right no one plans on leaving a ffa before there out but then again earning money without any effort on your part is already kinda frowned upon in other areas im just saying ffa's shouldn't be different based on frequency. Thats like saying its ok to do x because you only did it once

A should clarity what I meant be "a lot smaller" since I guess I wasn't clear enough:
    • tiny
    • miniscule
    • insignificant
    • negligible
    • trivial
    • no

I missed the part where people actually put effort into FFAs outside of the tournament. Whoops.
