I've mentioned this a few times to people in chat and overall it's gotten positive feedback. I think it would be a worthwhile consolation prize for some tourneys, competitions and other URPG events to allow people to choose the Hidden Power types for a certain set number of Pokemon. In this case, rather than having Hidden Power rerolled during HP reroll stations, the person could pay 3K to re-select Hidden Power's type. (provided they give a link that proves they earned the right to choose their own HP type)

I'd also like to point out that some people feel that there should be no need to roll Hidden Power types at all; that you should just be able to choose them right off the bat. I agree with this, but I wasn't personally around when the concept of rolling Hidden Power was introduced. Therefore, I don't really know the reasoning behind the concept in the first place so I can't really argue against it. There's always the option of allowing people to pay to choose their own HP types, which I think is nice compromise as well.

It's not like this is a massive issue, but it would be nice to not have to deal with having STAB Hidden Powers. unless you're an Unown

    Or Greninja. Or Kecleon

But yes, I agree with you. Quite frankly I don't really see the reason we roll them either, just choosing the type seems like a better idea for me, but like you, I can't say why the idea was implemented in the first place so I can't judge.

I really disagree tbh. I quite like the system, not because I have Pokemon with good hidden power types but because it helps prevent each Pokemon just being copies of each other. If every Jolteon had HP Ice it would get very stale. If you really want a certain HP type you can use probability to your advantage and work hard to get the ones you want, whether it's buying multiple Eevee or trading for someone's lucky rolls.

That being said, it would be kind of a nice tourney prize to allow you to select a Pokemon's HP type. Or these could be auctioned off, either as a HP Pass or as a specific Pokemon with a Hidden Power of your choice.

I like the idea of choosing a hidden power type as a prize in things like auctions or wheel of fortune but don't think everyone should be allowed to choose hidden power types, since good hidden power types add rarity to an otherwise common pokemon in most cases

well tbh choosing Hidden Power in general isn't really the idea I'm promoting here; I just wanted to see how people felt about that. I still think that the compromise I suggested of paying a certain amount to choose the HP type would add to the value (maybe not rarity; but value) while maintaining individuality for those who don't wish to pay. In any case, I mainly want choosing your own HP type to be possible in some way.

I am jaded and selfish and grumpy in regards to this topic specifically. I paid upwards of 200k for the Hidden Powers I have now, why should everyone else now get them for free?

Yet another URPG quirk people want to make purely mechanical.

I can definitely see the argument in favour of doing this but I'd rather keep it how it is. Syn's idea of awarding HP selections as a prize seems like a more reasonable way of doing it.
Could be awarded in raffles and wheels that aren't full of rubbish Contest prizes.
