Choose Your Own Adventure! - Pokemon Crossroads Anniversary Idea

Greetings Ultra Trainers!

So we were invited to join PXR in celebrating their 1-year anniversary! One of the ideas we've been throwing around is a Choose Your Adventure story!

Simply, we ask a talented writer (or writers) to write a segment of a story up until they reach a decision point. At that point, they will give the readers (aka the entire URPG) the chance to vote on what the main character(s) will do.


For example, let's say that during the story, you come upon the badly mangled body of our beloved friend, Husnain.

Do you:

A. Cry and mourn over his fallen corpse and swear revenge on the scoundrel who committed this villainy.

B. Quickly loot his body and move on. Can't waste time after all.

C. Quickly Hide in the Bushes. The Murderer could still be around here?

D. Put Husnain in your inventory.


Obviously the choices will be much more creative, divergent, and logical than that (probably). Readers will have a period of time to vote on which option to go with and once the poll is closed, the author will write the next segment based on what the URPG members voted for. Pretty simple!

Comedy is too subjective and hit or miss

 

Comedy is hard to write, because a lot of people have different tastes. I would suggest a more realistic/dramatic Pokémon adventure. Maybe through Kalos.

E. Replace the dead Husnain with one of my own Husnain and use the impostor to figure out what happened.

 

Sounds fun, also, will there be any sort of prizes to the writers / voters / people choosing branches, etc etc?

 

Well, I wasn't going to mention it outright, but we're looking at $200 per a vote per person for each "branch" decision.

Additionally, the writer for each segment (whether it's the same writer or different writers) will earn a certain multiple of a $1000 (to be determined).

 

Adventure/horror/Comedy

I'm a little late on this, but i don't care, in like this idea looks like it could be a a lot of fun.

 

We've been talking with Harry about this (long story why). So here is my story idea:


I'm thinking of a Urban-Fantasy story about Pokemon mythology. Like what Riordan writes. Where Legendary Pokemon were modernized and now reflect the modern world. I now have ideas for most of the legendaries.

For the plot, I'll have Mewtwo as the antagonist. The plot would be that Mewtwo would get hold of a thing called Husnainite, a magical item know for summoning Husnain. Husnain is a "rejected Pokemon" with the powers of turning anything it holds into more Husnain.

The main character is a mortal (boy or girl, I dunno), with a Pokemon (I'm thinking Gallade or Lucario) and will be accompanied by Meloetta (the "goddess of music and dance").

And more of the legendaries, they would be having domains where they would rule. Like Meloetta and music and dance. I'll elaborate more if you all want to.

Mewtwo as a bad guy? D: It'd be better as Darkrai or Giratina or something.

 

I like this idea. It would be so awesome if a really good writer could arrange something like this.

 

Reminds me of A Smell of Petroleum pervades throughout which is totally awesome and an old RP on Evergrande or PC or some other forum; had a really nice pantheon worked out. You should probably read the story to see how a kind of story like this applied to Pokemon, or at least to have an idea on how the story may grow and how you can still have some plot points forced without being too apparent.
