So after some confusion with Harryhe was talking about one thing and I was about another, I think, I'm told to post stuff in here.

Summary at the end of the post, can skip and read just that.

So one revitalized idea I've had is to bring back the URPG Challenges. They were something from before my time, but I was always intrigued by seeing them in other's stats. So I worked a little bit on bring them back, updated, adding Gen VI, etc. The full list will be posted at the end of the post.

So, I believe this is where I ask what viable prizes might be. I would envision it running on a year long basis, as some of them can be a long time thing. Some are easy, others are not. And it would only count for stuff that happened in the year it runs, so anything completed beforehand would not. Unless it is a position kind of thing, like Ash could mark off the Champion one but Pidge could not, as Pidge is no longer Champ. wow that felt strange to write. The WWC winner for this one would also be able to, even if the official thing doesn't start until after it is over.

    So, summary:
    *Bring Challenge System back
*Figure out a timeframe for it. Starting at 1 Year long.
*Pick prizes. And prize brackets. Do we have it top 3 people or something? So everybody with this point bracket get X, within this one get Y, etc. Maybe have one for the overall winner though anyways.
*Make a finalized list for the first session

    Contests:

    [??] 10/10 would do again - Become a judge.

    Writing:
[??] Passé - Write a story for a Pokemon that has its rank reduced be it by Story Pass or an Event
[??] Linguistics Lab - Do a collab story.

    Battling:
[??] Perchloric Acid - Completely evolve a Pokemon obtained after the challenges started completely in 3v3s or higher (including FFAs)
[??] Elite - Become a member of the Elite 4 or the Elite 4 reserve

    FFA:
[??] Top Percentage - Send a Ratatta / Raticate to an FFA and have it outlive at least 3 pokemon.

    General:
[??] You've been Winterized - Roll useless things on the Underground at least 4 times, including: Valuables worth less than your pay money, Mega Stones for legendary Pokemon, nothing.

    Notes about achievements:
[50] Pro Attack - win a battle with your final move being Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Frenzy Plant, Hydro Cannon, or Blast Burn
    - You should include Rock Wrecker here

I'll take a closer look at this when I'm not about to leave for uni, but I like it. Chainy had added more to the challenges at one point, but I'm not sure if that was ever posted.

I do think that some of the points need to be adjusted however, especially for some of the Park achievements, but we can work on that later.

What else do we need to figure out for this before we can get it implemented?

Oh, I had forgotten about this. Thanks for the bump, Swifty.

So I have combined my list with Chainy's list.

The main part now is getting points equalized. Most of the sections have 1100 points total. FFA has 1000, and Art has 740. Do we want to have it be out of 1000 for everything? Or 1100 as that is what we have for most of them at the moment. Either way, we need a lot more for Art. We can either cut achievements for the higher ones if we choose 1000, or we can cut points from achievements.

We also need prizes for Art. I'm assuming the prizes Chainy/Syn(not sure which by that part of the post) posted are good enough. So we need 5 prizes for Art. Two will be money. I'm assuming one will be a Art Pass(is that even a thing?). So just Two more prizes needed.

I have edited in the updated version into the first post. Any other tidbits please let me know. Even if it isn't posting in thread, my AIM/Skype is always open.

I didn't make the list btw, that was all a c/p

An even 1000 all around would be ideal, also those prizes might be a little much tbh since a lot of people will have completed a lot of them without meaning and can just claim like 20-30k for nothing!

Okay hi, I'm going to take charge of this because I'm an achievement oriented person and this could be cool. So I'm going to work with the new improved list described in the first post for this and also the prize list Syn mentioned. For the most part, I've kept this list the same as what's in the first post with some changes.

It should be noted that all achievements can only be earned once. Things that are italicized are retroactive achievements, meaning that if you would have completed the achievement in days past had this existed, then it is completed now. For example, if you created your stats back in 2010, you would still be able to claim that achievement if you wanted to, but if you recreated them two months after the achievements are released, then you can't claim it again (unless you never claimed the first time). Bolded achievements are ones I added so people can comment on them. Also made some minor changes to replace instances of Dream World ability to Hidden Ability since that's what's used in the dex, and we're going to have that one person who gets confused one day and argue about it.

    New Achievements List
    General
    • [10] Trainer - create your stats
    • [30] PC Required - own 7 Pokémon
    • [40] Elemental - own a Grass, Fire, and Water Pokémon (dual types count only as 1)

Hi, friends~ I'm going to give this another little push.

For the challenges, I want each section to have the same total number of points. Since General is the one with the highest total at 1200, I think all of the other sections - Battles, FFAs, Stories, Contests, Park, and Art - should also have 1200 points. This may be easier said than done, so if we can get close to that, I'll be happy. Basically just throw some ideas out there; if you're hesitant about posting points values, that's fine, post your ideas anyways and we can work out the points values together~

For the prizes, I'm probably going to speak to section heads about these (if they don't post here ahead of time) so that the prizes aren't too much or whatever. Feel free to suggest things, but I'm ultimately going to run them by the section heads anyways. The prizes will probably be expanded, I'm not sure, so that there's more than 5 for each section.

Okay, so I think we're going to scrap the total points thing. It would take far too much time to come up with any new challenges to bring each category to an event total, and I'd rather see this released sooner rather than later. That said, if anyone comes up with any ideas, they're more than welcome to post them & we could add them!!

Going to discuss prizes with staff to see how they feel and what to give for this. I'm hoping to have this released by the end of the month at the absolute latest.

A couple things I wanted to bring up here & others can provide input as desired.

    • I was thinking about making a suggestion in the thread where all of this information will be stored for people to c/p into their stats or do whatever with that basically said if you want an extra challenge, you don't have to claim the retroactive challenges as complete if you don't want to. For example, the Collector challenge, which involves catching a Pokemon from each gen, is retroactive; if I already had a Pokemon from each gen, I could mark it as complete or I could not do that and get 6 new Pokemon, one from each generation, as an extra challenge for myself. Either way, you could only complete the challenge once, it's just a matter of how you did it. Thoughts on this?

    • I also had the idea of doing a separate challenge list from this specifically for creative things that encourage creativity in URPG. Things that encourage people to go outside of the box and have RP battles or hella unique park posts or crazy stories or whatever. The thought mainly existed for stories, park, and art, but it could probably be extended to other sections like Battling or Contests, we'll see. For stories, one of the challenges could be "write a non-fiction story" or "write a space themed story" or things like that that push people to the next level of creativity. This would be a separate list from the ones seen in this thread and would be totally optional. I can't say whether or not there would be prizes, but if there were prizes, they'd probably be more strict than the ones for the non-creative list just because this one is something that would have the idea of "more effort, less reward." (You still get the Pokemon you wrote/drew/parked for, but there's less of the additional reward that the non-creative list gives, if that makes sense.) This isn't to say that the list in this thread doesn't encourage creativity because it does, but the idea is to push people to the next level and encourage people to put effort into things while also having fun doing it, if that makes sense. Thoughts? (I can post a list some time if anyone wanted to see one to get a better idea of what I'm rambling on about.)

I very clearly remember this being a thing at one point, and was actually surprised to find it's not still there in the Story section. Anyone else remember it? There was a really long, detailed Challenge system specifically for Stories.

I'm thinking of something that was around in 2010ish. I'm pretty sure the genre descriptions in that post are the same as the thing I'm thinking of, but I think it was "permanent" (I say that because it's clearly not around any more), not a competition.

One more update to this list. I had the thought of adding challenges for forum battles/contests to promote activity on the forums as well for newer members that may only be able to do things on the forums for whatever reason. For the purposes of forum battles/contests, like any other achievement that can be attained by doing something on the forums, it can be done on any of the three forums (BMGf, PWN, and PXR) that the URPG is on. I'm not going to force you guys to do something on one forum or another; it'll be up to the participants to decide what forum they do things on. I'm also going to add one to FFAs about participating in a forum FFA; this FFA would have to take place completely on the forums. Should we allow this one to be retroactive given how rarely these happen as it is or nah?

Once we get this initial, general challenge list up, we can work on creating one specific for stories/art that encourages creativity.

That said, the entire challenge list is below. The new ones are bolded, including the ones from the previous post, and retroactives are italicized. Once I get some opinions on this, I'm going to discuss it with the rest of the staff and hopefully release it soon!
