This is an idea DR originally threw out in the AIM chat, but he didn't what to post it so he said I could.

Each year on a member's anniversary, they can claim a set amount of money. I will be 1k for each year since they joined. Using me as an example, as I joined in February 2012, this past February I could have claimed 3k, and this next 4k.

The person would have 3 days on either sideof the anniversary to do so. So, once again, as I joined February 24, I would have between February 21 and February 27 to claim the money. If somebody does not claim the money within that timeframe, they forfeit their money for that year and cannot claim it otherwise.

    In short
    • 1k per year since they joined
    • Must claim with 3 days either side of anniversary
    • Money does not carry over from year to year
    • A way to recongnize older members and reward for staying for so long

    I think that covers everything.

    Aaand, discuss!

I dont see why not though it'd be kind of weird to reward people who were barely active in a given year.

Probably a criteria/guidelines to determine whether a member is eligible. Something that rewards those who were actually active nearly year-round than those who were on hiatus most of the year time-frame.

Also, something to track a member's anniversary. Well, Jack's Five Years of Starters is pretty interesting (January 12 is mine!). Mostly because some of us (me) didn't join the forums to immediately join the URPG. Like mine, it's October 2012 (notice it doesnt have a specific date) but URPG anniversary is January 12, 2013.

    Basically:
-Should the barely active people be rewarded? (Swift's thought above)
-How about those people who do not know their anniversary? (FYoS is the solution, but...)

    i am entirely messy sorry

Is this just another scheme for DR to get an easy 10K?

This would have been a good idea before all the BMG vets just passed their 5th anniversary :p

    Mine is today :D

Ha ha Commba =P. Yes, it was a thought of and talked about last night but I'm actually not going to receive the payout if this ever comes about. By the way, it would be 16k this August =P

Well, just think of it this way. Same time next year all the vets could get 6k for being around for 6 years.

This if it as saying "Hey, thanks for keeping us afloat over the past year. Take this as a thank you."

First Year and beyond- x amount of money

It has to be a flat rate. Just because someone has been here 5 years, doesn't make them any more important than someone who's only been here 1. The URPG needs to be on equal grounds and not just rewarding the already accomplished with more money.

Secondly, you can't go by exact date because anyone from the deleted forums don't know it. Do it monthly. As long as they post within the month they would get their anniversary gift.

Thirdly, it doesn't have to be only money.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think there's ever really going to be an equal ground in URPG. There's always going to be someone that's better off than someone else. That said, I think 1k per year would be fine. It'd reward people for staying around longer.

For the date, I agree that it should be by month, not by exact date. That'd give people more time to claim and also be active. Since we'd also want them to be active rather than just claim and run, I think if they do something in their anniversary month or the two months prior, they can claim their money by the last day of their anniversary month. For example, since I joined in August, I'd have to do something between June 1st and August 31st to be able to claim my money. That something should be a battle, submitting a story, going on a park run, participating in a contest, submitting art, reffing a battle, grading a story, rangering a park run, judging a contest, and/or curating art. It's easier for us to pinpoint month and year (and most people tend to remember that anyways), but it's a bit more difficult to pinpoint the actual date. Also relevant to this: what about people who restarted? I know there's a few of those, but how would their bonus work? Would it be based on their original join date or the restart date?

And for Jack's third point, I agree that it shouldn't just be money. As more time passes, the person's going to get more money anyways, and they'll probably end up spending that money. I think they should be able to claim something of equivalent monetary value. I'll use DR as an example since he has such a large amount of money. This August, DR would receive $16000 if we implemented this. Instead of claiming the $16000, he could claim TM Mega Punch, TM Razor Wind, TM Swords Dance, TM Whirlwind, TM Mega Kick, and TM Take Down since those TMs add up to the total amount he can claim of $16000. Alternatively, if he claimed TM Blizzard, TM Thunder, and TM Psychic, which are a $15000 value combined, he could do that and also claim the remaining $1000 to add to his stats for later use. It could also be used for anything else in the Poke Mart, Park Shop, and Contest Shop, but I figured I'd just use TMs as an example. Basically, claim items/TMs/whatever up to the value you earned; if that's not possible, claim what you can "purchase" with that money and add the remainder to your stats.

1k seems like a paltry amount to say "Thanks for sticking around for a year"

This isn't the kind of thing open to abuse anyway so maybe something more substantial?

Sounds like most people are saying ($1,000 * number of years you've been here) as the amount, except Jack who says it should be a fixed amount regardless of number of years. The former isn't insubstantial to people like Akdude or Jack for sure, and the latter would probably be higher than $1,000 anyways, whatever it ends up being.

Also, giving TMs worth an amount equal to the cash with the option of claiming the excess in cash seems like you might as well just give them the cash and let them buy those themselves. Non-monetary things sound cool in theory, but in most cases you're either overdoing it (basically anything involving a Pokémon), giving them something they could have just bought with that money instead (X price TM cases), or giving them something they don't want (Plates I guess? That's basically the only non-mart item except some park stuff).

yeah I got what they were saying but 1k to 3k (talking out my ass and saying that is an average urpg lifespan) isn't exactly a reward, I mean it's nice to get and all but to consider an amount of money that can't even get you a TM a reward is a bit far. Flat rate of at least 10K+ is a better option if this is to happen imo

So Jack is the dark horse with saying there should be a flat rate. I agree with Felly on the point about equal grounds. It will always be uneven, that is a fact of life.

Monthly, I can completely agree with that. I had forgotten about that, so yeah, month by month. If they don't know at all, I'd suggest we go with January of the year they joined. Felly's point about activity is a good one also. I won't reiterate it as she puts it better and is longer than I want to say right here.

Restarts: I would say go by their original date. Not their restart date. They have still been around sorta since way back when. Though, for people who were someone else way back when and are now a different person don't count(thinking of Smiles thing was it back a year or so ago?)

As Ash said, there really isn't much you can do with other prizes. Maybe if we get up to the higher numbers you could get a Story/Park Pass for the 10k like a gift station, but only a few people would be able to.

Fawkes latest post: It isn't supposed to be some sort of big thing, more of a little thing to thank you. Increases it from 1k to 2k a year I could see, but not much more than that. If you want to maybe flesh out you 10k+ thing and post please do.

I get that it's supposed to be a thank you but lets not make it insignificant enough to turn it into a "you're getting this so at least be grateful for it" thing. The 10k+ thing was a suggestion of a flat rate of any value including and above 10k.

Also @ the argument of urpg being uneven and we should just deal with it. Even if that is true doesn't mean we should perpetuate it and value one members time here more than anothers. Flat rate is the way to go yo

I agree with Fawkes that 1k is pretty low. If we're going to celebrate each person's join date, might as well go in whole hog.

Anyway, as I see it, a flat rate already rewards people who stay a long time. They're able to claim a larger total amount of money than someone who has only been here a year or two.

In five years, a member who joins today would collect 5 years worth of anniversary gifts, as opposed to a member who joined a year before getting only 1 years worth of anniversary gifts. By virtue of being around longer, the older member has had more time to accumulate things (this is also the reason why Jack, DR, and I have decent teams; we've managed to work on them over a very long period of time).

Admittedly, this doesn't really reward anyone more who may have joined awhile ago if we go with a flat rate. Then again, these gifts aren't a current implementation, so any amount would be a net positive.

I don't think flat 10k a year is so bad. Even if we still have the (1)k increase per year. It sounds like a lot, but really it isn't a huge amount, especially for the whole year. Definitely wouldn't be retroactive though.

I'm in favour of it being a larger amount. 1k is pretty useless and like Fawkes mentioned, this is a completely unabusable offer. There is absolutely no way for anybody to make multiple claims or huge amounts of profit.

Here's what I think. Let's go with the simplest implementation

On the anniversary when you joined, you may claim a 10k Birthday Gift that month. For example, if you joined in February 2013, each February afterwards you may claim your gift.
