One of the projects we were testing a few months back was the Ultra Adventures idea, an idea based on tabletop gaming with a strong focus on creativity and teamwork. It also borrowed heavily from forum roleplaying, but with the added convenience of taking a relatively shorter amount of time.

These sessions lasted two to three hours and tasked a team of Pokemon trainers to overcome a specific task in the allotted time using their wits and Pokemon. Challenges were determined via Dungeon Master fiat or various rolls. Bonuses were given based on a player's character choices and creative thinking.

You can find the whole description here:

I want to know if anyone is still interested in the idea.

I'm all for it. I thought it was brilliant and worked fairly well when it first came out and Chainy and I began planning. Unfortunately, we ran into problems on the forum test. I hadn't heard of it since, glad that we could keep this going.

I understand that the point of them is to try and have a quick roleplaying thing that can last a few hours and doesn't rely on extended activity, but I think these might be better suited to the forum. In AIM, everything moves extremely fast, and by the time you've finished your most recent post, someone might've already said something that contradicts it. People then try to post one-liners to get around that, and that's just not what roleplaying is supposed to be. The GM also has to try and keep up with everything, and sometimes stuff goes amiss and it just gets a bit messy.

Still definitely interested in it, though.

I think, with slight modifications, it would be able to work on both AIM and the Forums. Activity wise, for the Forums it would boost things a little. And on AIM it would go faster, but not quite as in-deapth. On AIM, however, it would be more like a classic D&D session.

I was actually wondering what happened to these a few weeks back. I wasn't super involved with it, but I took place in one adventure and I liked it. I'd be on board to help with making these a thing.

Gliscorman, I think you're thinking about the grid-based thing we were doing a year or so ago. Unfortunately, that fizzled.

I'd be interested in helping make these a thing, I think either AIM or Forum would work. As to getting around the one-liner problem, perhaps people could just post (reserved) and then they're given a minute or two to type up their response. People could take turns to reserve and pass it if they don't want to.

Yeah, I was initially. Then I read the actual thread Hkim linked. Sounds like what we were originally aiming for when we started the thing that evolved into a grid-based thing. I liked the original idea, what this is based off of, better. I will put most of my non-existent free time into making this come alive, if necessary.

I think the idea's really interesting and something rather unique. It would be great to have some roleplaying over on AIM, and if it was on the forum, it would still be very entertaining. If this would really be implemented, I think it would become a fun little thing to do when you've got some spare time on your hands. It's not like the National Park which is more of for the purposes of catching Pokemon, but rather just a little something to entertain and make our URPG experience a better one. This could, I think actually help us in many ways - get rid of boredom while waiting (say for the next post in a run, or something of that sort); allows us to practice our roleplaying skills (one way or another); allows us to interact with a larger number of people; tests and develops our creativity and quick-thinking.

so, basically, I really like this idea and would love to see it move forward and maybe implemented sometime in the near future.

I had a lot of fun playing the Ultra Adventures and think it'd be cool to let them continue. I do prefer them on AIM to being on the forum. It's easier for me to maintain focus xb /reason why I can never get more than one Pokemon from the Park

I kinda already sent you you my feelings on the subject, but yeah. It would be really cool if we could do more of these.

Seems like we have a strong interest in continuing this idea.

Is there anyone who would be interested in taking charge of this project?

This sounds a lot like a D&D thingy. I'd definitely like to see this (re)start up.

If wanted I could help with this project but by no means on my own.

I'd be willing, but I'm not the best at organization.

I'd be interested in helping out but I don't think I'd make a good lead as I have a busy schedule.
