ORAS Mega Stones are available in the underground. Mega Stone probabilities have been adjusted accordingly and so that the probabilities are more balanced by price of the stone.

Not to be rude, but did this really need its own thread? Seems like it could've just been posted in the UG thread, or even just the URPG suggestions/general chat thread.

Is there any reason they shouldn't be?

If you're talking about from an obtainability point of view, I assume they're obtainable for the same reason that both Mewtwonites are available; I managed to obtain a Mewtwo and I'd kinda like the option to Mega Evolve it. Maybe someone obtains Kygore/Groudon/whatever and would like that option as well.

I understand why it's able to purchase, but I do find it a teensy bit silly that, even if you're lucky enough to roll the 5% (or something; iunno exact numbers) for a megastone, there are still two items that are going to be pretty much useless for you unless you have a penchant for wildly expensive mail. And it's pretty much useless for anyone who isn't Chainy, so trading is kind of moot too, heh.

That being said, there's a ton of useless stuff in the UG, so fair is fair.

Two items? I think you forgot the new Diancite, Latiasite, Latiosite, Red Orb, and Blue Orb! At least now, Mewtwonites aren't each a 4.5% chance among Mega Stones with the others maxing around 3%. They're still probably not the least useful item in UG though. And probably not as disappointing as rolling an Aerodactyl/Spiritomb and having a 70% chance of getting nothing when that was still in place.

Why is an expired mechanic relevant to this discussion?

This is a good point from Jack. The fact that Chainy was able to luckily find a use for a mega stone that someone else rolled isn't a good reason to keep these in th underground. Honestly, I don't think there are any other more useless items in the underground. It's not a huge deal, but if there isn't a good reason for something....

There's a 5% chance that you get a Megastone, and a ~5% chance that if you do, it will be a legendary Megastone.

That's a ~0.25% chance that your $2,500 dig gets you a legendary Megastone that you can't use.

    In comparison:
    • There is a 5% chance to get nothing (but at least you get to dig again)
    • 3% chance that you get an item worth less than $2,500 (so you run a loss and don't get to dig again)
    • 1% chance you get a regular evolution stone (Fire Stone etc) which you may not be able to use (10% chance of the whole category of evo stones in general)
    • Not to mention plates/gems/fossils etc that you might already own

I really don't see this as an issue.

Just putting it out there that since I'm a collector, if anyone rolls one of those stones I'll buy it off them.

This isn't an issue worth arguing anymore, but I'd just like to point out that none of this is a good reason to keep the megastones in there.

It was never worth arguing in the first place.

Whether or not an item is useful is not in question here. Please don't mistake my post for trying to make a point. It is a simple question looking for an informative answer. To which, still has not been properly responded to. So I will ask again, this time highlighting the word that may causing some confusion:

Why are Legendary Megastones in the Underground?

They're there for the same reason that every other Megastone is there. To give people a chance to randomly obtain one.

The Legendary Megastones weren't added for any specific reason, nor was there any specific reason to remove them. All Megastones are present.
