Ref: nidoking uses horn drill, hits, OHKO
Player 1: wait a minute that's against the rules, default clauses!

Stop right there. According to All About Battles, the only default clause is Sleep Clause. Believe it or not, this situation has occurred once before in my career of reffing. This is why if you ever say 'default clauses' or 'normal clauses', I become a little upset and ask you to specify what you mean by that. Almost never does someone only mean Sleep Clause, especially if they use 'clauses', the plural version, even though that doesn't make sense since there is only ONE default clause. Therefore, whenever you make rules, tell me every single rule you want specifically! From now on, if you say 'default clauses', I'm just going to operate under only Sleep Clause, even if you meant to include Freeze and OHKO. If you say 'all clauses', fine. You're going to play under Sleep, Freeze, OHKO, Evasion, and Item.

Also, there is no such thing as 'No Terrain'. You play on Building Terrain, otherwise known as Normal Terrain, if you don't specify.

I prefer just to be spiteful and ref in full knowledge that the clauses arent on.

 

I gotta agree with HiPS on that. I consider them standard and usually go with it.

 

Ok, from now on I'll post in detail as well. Before I did once, but I think I thought that that was too much detail. Also, I thought Default Clauses menat that Clauses are on their Default settings... (well, at least that's what I meant when I typed it before).

You are correct. However, the point Pidge is making that the only one that, under default, is ON is the Sleep Clause. Default Clauses = Sleep Clause only. Stating "Standard Clauses" I would probably consider Sleep/Freeze/OHKO, but I strongly advise against this as any ambiguity can cause major issues with a battle.

 

The only time I list anything other than standard is if I want the Sleep Clause Off.
