THIS IS WHAT THE STORIES SECTION LOOKS LIKE

Good job grading this round, guys. Sorry for the wait--I wanted to do a larger feedback-based wages. So here it is.

AmericanTreeFrog: $59,200 (you may want to double-count that XD)
    $28,000 Complex - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/mienfoo-golden-fruit-ready-grading-104067/
    $6,500 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/poliwag-torch-friendship-122370/
$6,000 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/clefairys-ghosties-121335/ You told this writer, “show, don’t tell,” but then your examples didn’t well-illustrate what that actually means. It kindof came off as “add more trivial explanations of what stuff looks like.” ‘n that’s not sound advice. Encourage writers to choose descriptive details that lead towards a goal. “He is scary” = “He has large fangs and glares,” et cetera instead of “He has thick fur and four legs”
    $5,500 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/berry-thief-ready-121609/
    $3,200 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/make-shine-122109/
$3,000 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/brothers-chapter-one-innocence-121501/ This verdict was too harsh. Everything was definitely put-together enough for a Magikarp in addition. Make sure you make a strong argument for why you've passed/failed the story. You have to convince me!
    $3,000 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/chosen-chapter-1-a-121022/#post3626146
    $2,000 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/zorua-death-game-round-ii-120923/
    $2,000 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/whack-poliwag-122338/

Okay, this is going to sound a bit weird… but work on your close-reading skills somehow. Sometimes in your grades, you say, “you did this here”… and they totally didn’t do that, or even try to do that. Often, you also say, “look at this as an alternate example,” and your alternate example isn’t clear, or much different from what they already have—it’s just “more.” (Especially in the detail sections.) We’re going for teaching people how to write ‘better,’ not ‘more,’ as graders. Anyway, point being, your analysis will get a whooooole lot stronger, and therefore more helpful, if you read more closely. I don’t know if you’re currently just skimming (if that’s the case, stop). I would assume you aren’t—so in that case, consider taking a bit more time to think over what examples you’re using. Or pick up a book on close reading ‘r something. They probably have them at the library. XD

    Buoysel: $21,500
    $6,000 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/bad-excuse-story-121385/
Just so you know. Machop talks like a twat = Machop talks like a vagina. Mental image explosion. ‘n this grade normally wouldn’t’ve gotten Basic, except for the fact that I’m not sure there’s much else you could’ve done without launching into a full-on existential + metaphysical deconstruction of the plot. So. XD
    $5,500 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/fishin-trouble-119936/
    $5,000 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/generic-pokemon-story-117086/#post3620186
    $5,000 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/grá-121461/

TBH, you should probably be grading more 25k+ stories. Your grades are solid and you could probably give some good Complex level feedback.

    Dragoness: $3,400
    $3,400 Basic - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/first-page-[chapter-one-]-119280/#post3641656

    Kai-Mei: $11,000
$11,000 Complex - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/peter’s-rocking-tales-chapter-2-3-ready-graded-117872/#post3633439 Generally, your grading style is very effective. HOWEVER. Make sure that when you get off on your tangential ponder-rambles, they’re directly pertinent to what the author is trying to do. (I’m mainly referencing the ‘Duncan name ramble’) I don’t know context, so finding parallels to Shakespeare may have been pertinent/mentioned in Soro’s author’s note, or something… but if it wasn’t, then ‘skinda like, UH, THANKS KAI. I GUESS. Otherwise, you’re good to go. :p

    Nitro: $8,500
    $6,5000 + 2,000 Moderate - http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f396/mission-appeal-122340/#post3660793

You did exactly the right thing with the analysis if this had been a Hard level capture—and you did it at a Complex level. I’m giving you a slight bonus for that reason. However, we don’t offer Complex pay for stories under 25k in length/rough Hard-level capture standards for a reason. That level of analysis simply isn’t appropriate for most Medium captures, much less two Simple captures. Because Eraizaa is a fairly experienced URPG writer, giving him a grade this thorough is appropriate. However, Hard-level analysis should not be a factor in making a Simple-level decision.

In a situation like this, consider a conclusion that looks like: “A lot of what I talked about is higher-level stuff that’s not really pertinent to this decision. However, know that if I were evaluating this at a higher level, I would fail this story for ____ reasons. Considering that this is a Simple capture, I am giving you the captures on the basis of your very strong ______ at the expected level.”

Bwahaha, claiming, and thanks. Although, the Duncan thing was at least mostly pertinent when I started, though-- in chapter one, Peter was like "I SHALL CALL HIM DUNCAN FROM SHAKESPEARE AND HE SHALL BE MY SQUISHY", and I was curious as to why Soro would use such a name as Duncan, and than openly reference it, before steering off into a largely different plotline. I didn't mean to just be like "LOOK AT MY SHAKESPEARE SKILLZ11!" (speaking of which, I have mostly none), but it was related, I swear. Kinda.

*runs off to remove fluff from Butterflies grade...*

Gaha, your fluff is weirdly helpful. Like I said, I couldn't find context for that one--but since there is some, no worries. (I didn't look at the previous chapter. Silly me.)
