When I first became a referee, we did things a bit differently.

Sure, our calculations were different (we used base stats instead of max stats), but more critically was our need to not only know the damage formula, but also to implement it. By that, I mean to say that we would need to plug in each and every number ourselves and calculate the results.

Oftentimes we would use a physical calculator (such as a TI-83), paper, and a pencil. Random number generation relied on the honor system and would require the ref to determine the winds of chance. I would often use a deck of cards in place of a dice to determine various percentages. Between the calculations and the "rolls", it was an effective, but very slow system. A single 2v2 battle could take a couple hours. Thus the dominant format for the URPG was 3v3 and rarely anything above it unless necessary.

Over time we've improved the system. We created the Reffing Encyclopedia and switched to Max Stats. But the real major improvement came as a result of the URPG Calculator(s), which made it very simple to enter in the data (or Pokemon) necessary to calculate the results of an attack. Turns proceeded quicker and more battles could be completed in a more reasonable time frame.

We improved in other areas. Our old, practically abandoned site, was replaced with an easy-to-reference version. Instead of having all our information spread across three forums (or four if you count the backup forum), we now have a centralized place to check things. And let's not forget that the site itself (and its host) allows us to utilize the aforementioned calculator and conduct rolls.

The above achievements is thanks to the work of the leadership, and specifically to two very dedicated and hardworking individuals: Ataro and Monbrey. As some of the most technically proficient and intelligent members in our community, they both have managed to adapt the core of our system into something that can be easily used by a variety of members. They have achieved what were only dreams before.

Of course they both have numerous other accomplishments. They're excellent battlers and reliable leaders. And both have served as Second in the URPG, a critical position that I have come to rely on a great deal over the years.

I cannot possibly express in words how grateful I am for their service and sacrifice. I can only acknowledge the extraordinary time and money they have spent on our community. And I can thank them.

Ataro, Monbrey, by my authority as Head of the Pokemon Ultra RPG, I grant each of you a Legendary Pokemon. Thank you for everything you have done for us.

Seriously though, thank you Harry. Thanks to all the staff past and present that I've worked with over the years, and thanks to the community that makes this game what is it.

I've always been happy to do what I can for URPG because I love this game and I love the people here. This means a lot to me.

I'm going to embrace being a Genwunner and claim Mewtwo [IMG]

No two have ever deserved this more. You guys are the best! You've put so much into this game. I'm glad to see you being rewarded for that service.

Can't believe we're giving Monbrey a legend for undermining our own language rules literally since their inception
