Active Stats were tried a few times (when the contest section was much less active) and then basically forgotten. Nobody wants to buy stats for a contest type that never actually occurs. As such, I'm rerunning the event that introduced them.

Normal Rank Contests with Active Stats may give the option for coordinators to pick any stat distribution, rather than what stats the Pokémon already has. I advise judges who want to run these to make sure they're very familiar and confident with Active Stats first. They can be quite complicated.

Please post links to each log in this thread, with a description of how well you feel the Active Stats actually went.

    First! :D

Needs more testing obviously, since no one even tried Jams yet, but Beauty and Toughness seem to work. Other Stats were picked, but not used. I expect a lot of people to make distributions a bit randomly before actually start planning them based on their strats.

This was a Cute contest where everyone had Max Beauty, so you can already imagine what it was all about. Only Rick went for a different route and used Combos to make use of Stage 8 Smartness, but it wasn't enough. Weir wanted to nervous, but didn't have any, so this still wasn't the day where we see Cool and Cute working against it.

Still waiting to see people trying Jams some day. They still let others stack Stamina as if it wasn't there, and after 3 Rounds of not touching it, people get discouraged about using negative effects on them. Everyone seems too attached to All-out appealing, since Stage 8 Beauty is picked every time. Since most people are not used to Jam in contests, that attribute's consequence of making Jams weaker is negligible.

We got Jams! Toughness made its first victim by taking down a horse from 1st to 4th place after getting caught by a Nervous without enough stamina for protection, since it got lowered twice the previous Round. People finally gave Beauty a break and tried Combos with Smartness... except Rick's got canceled by Nervous and Weir's Coolness and Smartness anulled each other.
I also don't get Weir's pick of Stage 5 Cuteness when he had 100% Nervous Resist from Coolness, unless he was really worried about those Single-target Jams.

Alright, where do I even start with this one...
Well, first things first, I decided to cap stats at Stage 4 for this one, because that's kind of what most people will have at the beginning once Stats come out... and damn, the dicebot didn't got a break with all these rolls. At least we had a glimpse of all stats in general.

DP went for jams every turn (except Round 5), so the three coordinators who picked Toughness had a harder time stacking Stamina than when they were allowed to pick it at Stage 8, which resulted in a lot of black hearts early on.
Since Beauty also only had 50% chance to raise the crowd, some Crowd Boosts sliped away from some pokémon, although it did give the Crowd Boost to Metagross on Round 4 with a Smart move. In the other hand, it hindered Metagross's jams.
Coolness also saved Dragonite and Mr. Mime from being Nervous on Round 2 where they would otherwise have failed to appeal, though it didn't save Mr Mime from a second one a few Rounds later. Metagross didn't have it, so didn't get a second chance...
Cuteness gave Metagross +2 Nervous appeal, but it didn't make up for its canceled Combo. Mr. Mime also got that bonus when it got nervous, but it was startled by Metagross that turn aswell, so it still went to lose, though not as much as if it had no Cute. It also lowered the startle from Metagross's Confusion.
As for Smartness, even though it did its thing, Dragonite's Coolness nulified Smart's Combo Bonus. It still worked as normal for Metagross's combos.

So this was the first time we tried the reworked Beauty and Cute stats. Weir was the only one using Beauty, but used no copies, so we'll leave that for another time. As for Cuteness, those who picked it didn't use any Jams, and the only person who did use them didn't have Cuteness, so Jam-related stuff will also have to wait.

But the part of Cute lowering the appeal of incompatible moves was tested, and I think the penalty should apply separately from the move's base appeal. So, just like you only get +1 when you raise the Crowd Meter, you should only lose -1 when you lower it. Otherwise, it really hurts combos, which is something that Coolness already does, and I don't want to have the 2 main attributes that counter nervous to also be the ones that nerf combos.

The other stats, nothing special to mention in this one.

I still couldn't test the Cute part that increases the power of jams. In both of those there was someone who went for jams almost every turn, but they're allways the ones that don't pick Cute... :(
At least I could test Beauty's nerf to copies. It still scores high if it's well timed on a Combo and a Crowd Boost, but it's not something you can use on regular appeals and still get a high score from, like when you don't have the Beauty stat. Stamina from a Max Stage also faltered on Round 4.
Oh, and as a bonus: no one seemed to notice that I decided to remove OP Combo Clause from this one, at least the ones that were coordinating...
