This thread serves as a record for any updates to the Contest Section.

Update 17/02/14
RSE Festivals now operate with a 30/25/20/15% chance system for nervousness. Regular RSE contests will use the standard rate (60/50/40/30%) until further notice.

 

Update 20/02/14
The contest section officially moves into Gen VI several months late as the DPPT movelist is updated. I actually had these done but forgot to post them on here because I suck.

In other news, the buying of Pokeblocks is suspended while we figure out a new system. I know how disappointed you all must be, but rest assured this will only be temporary. Normal berries can still be bought.

 

Update December 17, 2014

I'm apparently Head of Contests now.

Destiny Bond Clause is now an optional rule for RSE. Under this clause, the move Destiny Bond does not combo with any other moves.

The Pokéblocks will be in strikethrough and spoiler so it is clear they are not available for purchase.

Anyone who would like to help gather and update data for ORAS Contests, please let me know. I'm assuming they are based on RSE Contests, in which case it will probably function as an update to RSE Contests. If this is not the case, they will likely be added as a new mode.

EDIT: Also moved Judgepedia to Contests instead of Contest Results because it made no sense being there. Also updated Berry Store with what I believe was the winning banner from the Banner Contest. Will add the others in later if they haven't already been done.

 

A few more changes: December 19, 2014

To Judge BW, you must pass the BW test or have already shown expertise in past judging of them. The RSE/DPPt test does not suffice just like the BW test does not suffice for judging RSE/DPPt.

To account for the limited activity right now, only one ribbon is required to do the next rank. While I believe two ribbons is reasonable for more activity, our current activity (both URPG in general and Contests) does not currently support that.

Payments for all ranks RSE/DPPt/ORAS Contests have changed as follows:

EDIT: Destiny Bond Clause is now OP Combo Clause. It also bans Curse --> Spite/Grudge. If there are any other things that you think belong in the clause, don't hesitate to post in Contest Chat or tell me by AIM/Skype.

 

To encourage more activity and make up for a logical inconsistency between judge and contestant pay, RSE/DPPt Contests now pay $2,000 and $2,000 Contest Credits to the Judge instead of choosing between the two. BW Judge pay is unaffected as it is already fairly high relative to other things, and BW Judge pay can still be claimed in either currency.

 

Minor update: BW Contest CC/$ payments swapped. The old system had CC stop increasing after Super Rank, which seems a bit against the point.

Bigger update: Actually going to edit in the last update now, will also notify any judges who have judged RSE since and did not include getting the bonus in the log. Starting with myself... Turns out it's exclusively me, the only other contests since that post were BW Contests by Princess Crow.

Well you should do the update. Then you don't have to wait to see it appear.

 

Three or four way ties for first now award no ribbons.

(This is not a retroactive change and has no effect on ribbons previously earned.)

Also, super late reply to Winter's post above: I meant for people to notice it. I had already edited it in when I posted.

 

CONTEST UPDATES 11/08/2017

First, as most people should be aware, there has been a sweeping change to contests in the last 2 months, which is summarized in this thread and this thread. Be sure to check out how contests have changed!

Additionally, we’re setting an informal rule in stone. If a trainer wants to send an "end" move BEFORE THE FINAL ROUND, they should justify to the judge why it's not throwing (which is probably easy turn four and impossible turn one). This has been loosely enforced but now it’s official! This applies to RSE and ORAS contests.

"End" Moves refer to the following:
Destiny Bond
Explosion
Final Gambit
Healing Wish
Lunar Dance
Memento
Self-Destruct

 

CONTEST UPDATES 11/09/2017

A few changes to Festivals:
- Festivals must now be composed of at least 8 coordinators, as opposed to the previous minimum of 6.
- Determining Round Number for Festivals will be done via the following equation: Round Number = 6 + N/4, where N is the number of participating coordinators. Round Number is always rounded down, such that a result of 8.75 would be equal to 8 Rounds.
- Festival pay has been changed. The bottom three scorers will gain 1,250$ + 1,250CC, and each place above that will earn 250$ +250CC. The winner makes an extra 500$ + 500CC, and the Judge will receive the same pay as this.

Regarding Contest Stats:
- Traditional Stats are being removed entirely. This means that any Pokeblocks you may have in your stats will currently do nothing. Pokeblock berries and Scarves will remain in the Berry Store, however.
- A note has been placed on Active Stats which forbids their use unless otherwise approved by a Head or Chief Judge.

Regarding BW Contests:
- BW Contests (and the Leader's Division) are now discontinued indefinitely, and the majority of information regarding this mode has been moved to one megathread in the Infohub.

Regarding the Judge Test:
- The Judge test has been updated to include ORAS-relevant questions.

 

NOVEMBER 19, 2017
- Berry Store revamp
* formatting fixes (cleared up definitions, categorized berries, banner change and a host of other a e s t h e t i c changes)
* removed references to Pokéblocks
* Updated Aguav Berry and co. to reflect Gen 7 changes (and modified in accordance to what SRs have decided)
* Scarves now worth 500 (down from 2,500) each, added a clarifying note that they're only usable as Fling items

We're finally codifying rules regarding Ribbon ownership when it comes to trading/gifting Pokemon.

Here's the excerpt from the Judge Encyclopedia, under "Earnings and Ribbons":

Ribbons and Trading
If you are trading away or gifting a Pokémon with Ribbons you earned to another member, those ribbons will be removed from that Pokémon and you will be allowed to keep them in your stats for Berry Store purchasing purposes only. You must keep track of unconsumed Ribbons you get this way in your stats. If you will re-obtain that very same Pokémon, you won’t be able to re-attach its Ribbons even if they’re unconsumed. This rule doesn’t apply for trade-and-trade-backs meant to evolve a Pokémon.



So, for example, May has a Skitty with a Normal Cute Ribbon and she's trading it to Dawn.

Dawn will receive Skitty with no ribbons, and May will keep the Normal Cute Ribbon in her stats for Berry Store purchasing purposes only.

If May hasn't used the Normal Cute Ribbon and Dawn trades Skitty back, May won't be able to re-attach that Ribbon on Skitty, meaning Skitty will have to earn another Normal Cute Ribbon in order for it to qualify for a Super Rank Cute Contest.

Note that this rule, as mentioned above, does not apply to TATBs meant to evolve Pokemon.
