ATF and me recently decided that contests shouldn't have the GBA four moves limit. Like with battles, the unique part of URPG is that the four move slots doesn't apply to URPG, thus extending the possibilities of gameplay alot. Thus, contests have no reason actually to still be restricted by the four move slots.

tldr; You no longer have to select four moves when you're sending in your Pokemon in a contest. You're free to use any attack that your Pokemon has, taught from whatever methods legally. On-going contests shall stick with the four moves till it's over.

And now such contests will give out ribbons as well? I suppose that's what you meant, but I'm just confirming. Nice change imo.

Well, I believe it should stay at a 4 move limit. Players can choose from whatever their move set has to offer (which is pretty wide ranged by itself). Contests should stay the same, or people might begin abusing combos, nervous moves, jams, and high appealing moves.

How in a way will it be abused?

In the first place, you can't exactly "abuse" combos. And someone can equally abuse nervous moves by selecting Baton Pass and Nasty Plot in the four moveslots, and it's up to them if they want to waste their appeal on something that is chanced upon luck. Therefore, your arguement isn't quite valid, or so I see it.

Well, first to start, Battles allow any move in a Pokemon's movelist to be used,

Contests already allow the same, any move can be chosen from the movelist. The maximum of 4 moves is what leads many Contest Mechanisms like Move Repeats, and exclusively to URPG: Random Rolling. Does that mean these are voided out now?

    Edit: ACCEPTING

heh, adding something contests already had. You guys. :p

The only difference being ribbons can be won now. We'll see how it works out, might increase activity. :)

Contest newbies may have no idea what four moves to choose, so I guess it's more inviting for them to start if they don't have to make choices like that.

I have yet to do contests (one of these days!) but this makes a lot of sense. Feng, this way it is consistent with URPG battles. Choosing 4 moves from all of your moves would be akin to GBA-style battles, and isn't comparable to choosing from all your moves.

Especially in super contests, moves aren't even that varied in what they do. If I remember correctly they all give only between 1-4 appeal (8 for the OHKO moves), rather then being widely varied like in the 3rd gen contests. So there's really not much potential for abuse. Plus it's easy to choose a combo for a 4-move set too xD
