EDIT: To keep in line with the tradition started by the Navel Island Gym. ALL of the battles in the Navel Island Tournament 2017 must be started with the following procedure:

1) Send 8 mons to ref w/ items + abilities
2) Preview
3) trade pokemon
4) battle start

EDIT2: THERE IS A TWO DAY EXTENSION!!! Meaning battles must be completed by Saturday, April 22nd at 23:59 EDT!!!!!!! There will be consequences for any unfinished battles!

Predictions:

• Swift vs Winter: Going to be an awesome match, and pretty 50/50. I'm going to give it to Winter because I think a trickier play might surpass Swifty's style in this one
• Gray vs ___: Pending above
• Ebail vs Dash: I think Dash is definitely going to make this a challenge for Ebail, and his lack of activity might get the better of him, but I gotta stick with the April 2010 BMG bros
• Ayotui vs Morru: Fire bros
• PrinceVultan vs Hannah: Tough call, haven't seen Hannah battle for a long time but she was a pretty consistently good battler so I'm going with her for this one
• FierceDeity vs Jacen: FD has the skills to take this out
• Nitro vs Felly: Nitro got this if he puts down RSZ_ALONZO_PNG long enough to focus
• Menegoth vs Havoc: I have no idea here, Havoc is good but can be a bit impulsive, and I have no idea how Menegoth battles at all. Taking a shot on the newbie
• SiberianTiger vs Zolar: Going with ST if he doesn't ragequit before the end
• Fawkes vs Xali: Fawkes you don't even battle, Xali got dis
• Mikey vs Ash: Sorry Mikey
• QE vs Monbrey: I'm average at best
• Magik vs Truly: Dojo Sensei's represent
• Seppe vs Liam: Tough call but Seppe has surprised me in the past
• Sou vs K'sariya: Flipped a coin because I have no idea how either of you two battle
• Weir vs Cmann:
• Ralin vs Synthesis: Can't see the Champ losing this one

 

Swift vs Winter: Swift didn't even want to enter, and so I see him acting like he isn't serious, and sending something dumb that actually works out to his favor due to something like a misprediction from Winter.

Regardless I see Swift or Winter being Gray simply due to experience and more varied Mons at their disposal.

Ebail vs Dash: Why you ask?

Oh it'll be a slow battle to begin, but eventually I'll score with that deadly triple combo of a, Snake-Eyes, a Big Boot and a Leg Drop. This won't be enough to win of course, which is where I hit a Chokeslam. Still not enough of course, and naturally now Dash will start to get the edge on me. After some beating down, and a signature move or two from him not working he'll get frustrated. In that frustration I'd take the edge back, and go for a Tombstone Piledriver to settle things. Unfortunately I then foresee Dash countering out of it, throwing me the refs way to distract them, using an illegal low blow to take me out of my groove, then hitting me with one more move to win, setting up a long standing rivalry lasting several months. Yes.

Ayotui vs Morru: You know what you're doing if you act serious. Also there could be some lack of activity or something.

PrinceVultan vs Hannah: Well, unless you vanish like normal I see you taking this one because in the times I'd seen you battle, and reffed for you they were pretty good battles with you powering your way though.

FierceDeity vs Jacen: I don't even have a valid reason.

Nitro vs Felly: Nitro has this, before shortly after saying he's quitting URPG again before making a return in 8 months i know that feel

Menegoth vs Havoc: Just for asking if I'd trade you my Milotic.

SiberianTiger vs Zolar: Zolar has Archer as his avatar on Discord, and it's hard to go against Archer but if Archer has taught me anything it's that well without a weapon stuff like this can happen.

Fawkes vs Xali: Lack of battling!

Mikey vs Ash: Mikey it'd be cool to see you win and all, but it's Ash.

QE vs Monbrey: It'd be hilarious if QE got the one Pokemon from Monbrey that could sweep his entire team, but due to EMs overall I don't see Monbrey losing just by 1 Pokemon.

Magik vs Truly: Magik will use Magic to win.

Seppe vs Liam: Both are good, however I saw tons of potential in Seppe when he first joined, do you even use that scyther i gave you???? and I just think he'll find the ways to pull this one out.

Sou vs K'sariya: I gave you 4 Pokemon that you may send all 4 of! But nah really it's a tough call, but only went with Sou as I've never actually seen K'sariya battle and so I can't compare the styles.

Weir vs Cmann: I think with enough focus and relaxing Weir could beat the bulk of this tournament honestly.

Ralin vs Synthesis: Ralin you're cool, really. The few times I talked to you were fun, and you like yugioh but as someone who has been around as long as Syn I've seen him do a lot. That includes being the only person to beat Ash for both the original Dojo league championship as well as the URPG championship. It's just hard to bet against that kind of person.

Ralin attacked at some inopportune moments when he could have set up instead and also got really unlucky with a freeze on Slowbro which made it dead weight. Well played on both ends, though!

Fawkes (Musharna, Banette, Tytrantrum, Rotom-Wash (swapped)) vs. Xali (Kingdra, Gyarados, [Starmie], [Azumarill (swapped)])

Kingdra set up in front of Washtom and Musharna just long enough to do some heavy damage to the team. Banette may have been able to turn things around, but an unlikely crit sealed the deal. Good game!

Xali gets $2,500 + advances.
Fawkes gets $1,000.

Upon request of Artist/Prince Vultan, he forfeited the match advancing Princess crow to round two.

 

Menegoth forfeited for unspecified reasons which means Havoc progresses!

 

Zolar and SiberianTiger are hereby disqualified due to several reasons:

1: they made no attempt to battle up until an hour before their extension ended
2: they made no attempt to contact me during their extension
