Battle Rules

All battles during this tournament will be 6v6. Below are the default rules for all battles.

X/Y Private Preview (may be changed to X/Y Private Full if both battlers agree)
Items On (may be changed to Items Off if both battlers agree)
No Weather / Default Terrain
SLP/FRZ/OHKO/ACC/EVA Clauses On

Payments: 4k winner, 2k not-winner, 4k referee.

If you can't get in contact with one of your opponents or cannot agree on a scheduled time, get in contact with me ASAP.

Refs, detailed logs will need to be kept of the teams in the case of a draw (remaining health points, statuses, etc). For this reason, during this round, referees are not allowed to accept surrenders. Should a battler wish to surrender and refuse to send moves, it is as if their Pokemon uses Struggle continually, and they send Pokemon in belt order until there are none left.

I got a new gym so I don't think I can ;(

 

I mean, Syn did forfeit and then confirm that he was forfeiting too.

 

To be fair, so did Ataro and I lol

 

I don't see why we couldn't just let him have a rental from his old lineup if he wins. It's still listed in the Apply for or Update a Gym Thread anyway.

 

The whole point of locking in a team at the start of a tournament is so that if things change while the tournament is running, there's still a record.

Even if Syn has let go of his gym, he's still allowed to battle in the tourney, with the Pokemon that are listed on his sign-up sheet.

If he's traded them away, things are a little bit more complicated, but I think I'd still allow him to battle with them anyway.

 

So, for sake of clarity, this round is scheduled to end at 11am on the 22nd of February, GMT+10:30 (or whatever the timezone is for Adelaide, South Australia). Coin flip as to whether it will actually end then, but that's the plan.

Ataro and I are supposed to battle tonight.

Syn and I are supposed to battle on Monday or Tuesday iirc, we're on at the same time frequently anyways because the time zones are close enough.

Obviously can't speak for Ataro vs. Syn.

Smores reffed the first half, but the second half was action-packed too! With entry hazards really being a thorn in his side, Syn didn't have much to work with. Mega Kangaskhan threatened to power through his team with Facade, and it was all he could do to try and stall it out. In the end, Accelgor finally took out Mega Khan (puns lol), but sacrificed itself in the process. With just Galvantula and Staraptor remaining, it all came down to a Par roll because Galvantula couldn't OHKO without a full-powered Electro Ball. The dice made their decision, and Staraptor took down the electric spider and clinched the win for Ataro. Goldenrod got the goods in this grand gauntlet.

Syn reffed the majority and I wrapped things up. Apparently, paralysis-hax was a major factor in the first part of this battle preventing Ash from following through with some Encore shenanigans (karma). By the time I got there, Ash's team had been ravaged ( ) and there wasn't much left for him to rely on except Dragonite, hax, and a paralyzed Hawlucha. Dragonite made quick work of Lopunny, but Ataro fired back with Ditto. The original Dragon and his fraudulent counterpart didn't fight long, because Murkrow came in to absorb some Choice Scarf-locked hits. Growing tired of the resistance, Heliolisk was brought in to replace Ditto. Attract only got Ash so far as Heliolisk boosted and became a threat. Murkrow tried to hide behind a Substitute, but Ataro had it covered and Hyper Voice brought an end to it. It was all Super-Effective-sweepage from there as Heliolisk took out Dragonite and Hawlucha. And so, Normal-type Gym Leader Ataro emerges as the Gym Tournament 2015's victor! Goldenrod gets the gold...rod. ._. look I couldn't think of a good alliteration-pun thingy so just be happy that this trainwreck is finally almost over ok

Synthesis: Galvantula, Beedrill, Scizor, Armaldo, Volbeat, Accelgor
Ash: Aerodactyl, Charizard, (Gliscor, Murkrow), Salamence, (Talonflame)

Mega Salamence is really scary. It rekt Syn's team, & then Aero cleaned up. Charizard was KO'd by the Scizor once it got switched in. Aero set up rocks. AND HEY NOW THIS TOURNEY IS OVER LOOK AT THAT, KIDS.
