Gym Leader Tournament 2016(ish) Round 2

Now we begin Round 2! Round 1 was full of intense battles and a few upsets. Strategies succeeded and carefully laid out plans failed. Predictions flew left and right. But in the end, only 12 remained to move onto the next round. Now it's time to narrow the pack down even further. There can only be one winner after all!

Round 2 of the Tournament will last from now (January 16th 2:30am EST) until 10 days from now (January 26th 2:30am EST). Please please please try to have your battles done before then if possible! I still want to get in as many Rounds as possible before I get started with classes again. Start scheduling your battles now. Send PMs, VMs do whatcha gotta do but get 'em scheduled and get 'em done. As always, if there's a problem come to me as soon as possible. Don't wait until the last second pls. Also, props to most of you for getting your Round 1 battles done!

As a reminder, these are the official rules to be used during your matches:

S/M Private Preview (may be changed to S/M Private Full if both battlers agree)
Items On (may be changed to Items Off if both battlers agree)
No Weather / Default Terrain

Elrond 2.0 vs Morru - it will come down to some silly misplay on Morru's part probably. Or he'll fall asleep.

Xali vs Syn - Will be really close, but I think Xali's unpredictability might get him the win, just don't overrely on hax :x

Xali vs Syn - In reference to Round 1... Damn you Swift and your dice. Syn and/or I were supposed to take jabs at others until the final!

Soulmaster vs WinterVines - Winters got practice with the fire breathers last round... it was a warm up for this
Ash K. vs Seppe - tbh Seppe if you win you will be a URPG hero for lyfe
Elrond 2.0 vs Morru - Flying so versatile, Elrond will fly onto the scene being carried in by a ginormous Pelipper in its beak and that Pelipper will unnerve Morru with its beady little eyes... should be a good match.

 

Xali vs Syn -I gonna go for Syn. It will be an incredibly close one but I think Syn will pull out on top.
The Artist... vs Ataro -Ataro. PV is too cocky and it will bite him.
swiftgallade46 vs Mikey57 -Swifty. Don't think Mikey can take the power of the psychics.
Soulmaster vs WinterVines - I want to say me, and I will, just not so certain. I can hope.
Ash K. vs Seppe - Seppe's a nub.
Elrond 2.0 vs Morru - This will be a great match. I think Morru and Fire will overtake the Flying.

 

Xali vs Syn - Xali has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, but I think Syn of all people would be the one who's prepared for them and he will win unless he gets haxd to hell and back.
The Artist... vs Ataro - Tried and true, I think Ataro can take this.
swiftgallade46 vs Mikey57 - swift knows his stuff but I think Mikey deserves a lot more credit than he's been given with his gym, and if he can prepare properly and try to calm his nerves he can do it.
Soulmaster vs WinterVines - I think Winter has what it takes to overcome Soul, but it could come close.
Ash K. vs Seppe - Like I would ever root against a Grass gym. Very unlucky for Seppe but I still think he can play his cards right and sneak a win, as long as he doesn't get defeatist going against Ash and Flying.
Elrond 2.0 vs Morru - He's been practicing really hard with his new gym types, and I think his extensive knowledge of Flying types will help. Altho can't rely on nubchicken tbh ggwp

Nimbasa Electric Gym vs. Sunyshore Electric Gym

This was a great battle, as would be expected. Both sides had some major predictions and some unique strategies such as using Electric Terrain to get out of falling asleep due to Yawn. Both sides also brought Galv which allowed them each to set up Sticky Web which also evened the playing field. In the end, Syn was simply putting out more damage while Xali tried playing the prediction game with status moves until he was out of things to use. Quite a good battle!

The Artist... vs Ataro - They both will have their tricks and PV honestly probably can win this if he stays focused and plays smart, but my money's on Ataro.
swiftgallade46 vs Mikey57 - Closest match of the round, probably. Skills-wise I think they're both equal but with the type advantage I think Mikey can pull through for a win if he doesn't lose faith in himself.
Soulmaster vs WinterVines - Dragons are kind of one-dimensional, but Winter is not.
Ash K. vs Seppe - Zard-X will sweep, it's just a matter of how early game it can do it. Seppe does have a lot of potential though, so I'm rooting for him!
Elrond 2.0 vs Morru - Both are good with nice, solid teams. I think Morru can take command if he believes in the heart of the cards.

 

PV vs Ataro - Sorry PV, but normal type is spoopy D: It'll be a good match doe!

Soulmaster vs WinterVines - Winter will make Soul too toxic tbh. She's got that EXP, but it could go either way, depending!
Ash K. vs Seppe - Ok, let's be real here; If Seppe wins, this WILL be the biggest URPG Tournament upset of all time. It'll definitely be one sided in advantage, but I Bayleef in you Seppe!

Was a pretty short battle, Scolipede set up Spikes and statted up a bunch on Garchomp, then Baton Passed to Nidoking who fully swept.
