EDIT: I have only seen Normal Rules use DPPt, so if that's what you're using, you don't need a ref to send out your pokemon and first moves. If you want Revo style instead, then.. I guess you have an advantage here.

We shouldn't need a ref until after we send our moves, which could take a while, or could be rather instant. Espeon only has one ability available to it, Synchronize, but it may still be best to put that when you're sending your pokemon.
