Ponyta(M)-Flash Fire

Ayame walked out onto the battle range. Pushing her falling glasses up her nose, her mouth curled into a slight smirk. It was a habit she had when she was feeling some competitive excitement. This battle was going to be a challenge for her and Cobalt's skills.
"Alright, let's get started! I choose you, Cobalt!" she cried, throwing a red and white pokeball into the air. A bright flash of red light filled the air and out erupted a orange colored horse known as Ponyta. Cobalt nickered and pawed the ground.
"Cobalt, let's use agility!"

 

On the opposite side of the range, Dianne followed suit. She threw her own Pokeball into the air, and a flash of light revealed her Shellder. Though Aurora was much smaller than Cobalt, Dianne doubted that size would be the determining factor in this battle.

"Good luck," Dianne called to Ayame, smiling widely. She hoped she didn't sound too ironic while doing so.

"Start off with a Clamp attack, Aurora!" Dianne ordered. In response, Aurora tipped onto the side of her shell, and began rolling to intercept Cobalt's path. It was the Shellder's intent to latch onto Cobalt's leg as he ran past.

"Alright, Cobalt, let's use bounce to shake off that clam!" Ayame called. Cobalt took a running leap and then bounced into the air.

 

"Don't let go of it, Aurora! Put the fire out with Brine!" Though Dianne knew that it wasn't the optimal time to use the move, any attack was better than nothing.

In Aurora's opinion, unexpressed though it was, her trainer was already being unfair by commanding an attack at all. Aurora had always hated heights-- the irrational thought of falling had always reminded her of cracked shells. As Cobalt bounced into the air, Aurora tightened her hold on him, desperate not to fall off. Eyes shut tight, Aurora sprayed salt water less out of obedience than reflex.

Cobalt let out a scream of anger as Aurora's clamp put more pressure on his already sore leg. His large brown eyes flickered red as the fire within him heated up. The flames on his mane and tail grew larger as Cobalt dived for the ground.
Ayame watched closely. "You can do it, Cobalt!"

"Don't give up!" Dianne yelled. "Beat it before it hits the ground! Another Brine!"

"Cobalt, are you ok?" Ayame cried, stepping forward toward her pokemon. Cobalt pinned his ears back and kicked his heels in her direction. In the next moment, he rearing and striking the air with his front legs. When he landed, he gave a snort. His sides moved quickly as his breaths turned a bit gaspy, but not too worse for wear. Ayame stepped back, knowing that this was Cobalt's adamant nature taking over.
"Alright then Cobalt, then let's do this thing. Agility!"

 

As Cobalt kicked, Aurora lost hold on him for a moment; as she flew through the air, she managed to barely grab onto his other leg.

Nonetheless relieved to be on the ground again, Aurora began to move before her trainer ordered anything. Rather than stemming the tide of salt water, Aurora sprayed harder, trying to direct the spout toward Cobalt's face without loosening her hold.
