The boy gazed listlessly at the opposing Trainer, his eyes obscured by a rag that may have passed as a hat, once. A few seconds passed, and a small Ralts appeared in front of his feet. Staring at the opposing Psyduck, the Ralts began to glow, attempting to lure the Psyduck into a trance.

Belle the female Docile Ralts attempts a Hypnosis. Synchronize activates.


(And then we waited several years for a worthwhile ref. .-. BTW, your Psyduck has a large stat advantage; about 100 40 above Ralts. In every stat. Looks like I'll need an expert strategy...)

Generally in Dppt, users take turns sending, and that usually includes Pokemon. So one person sends a mon, the other player sends both mon and move, and then the first player sends move. Then, you alternate after that. I've rolled for the first send on this next turn since you guys posted moves with your mons.

Also, some refs don't claim a battle until both battlers have posted in the thread too. In some cases, refs also forget to check individual threads since they move around so much (so waiting battles generally get pushed to the bottom and sometimes the next page). A safe play to make is to post a link to your battle requesting a ref in the Report a Battle thread to ensure they see it. That's how I found the two I claimed today. Even further, you could look in the Reffing Encyclopedia or the AIM list to see who is a Ref and PM/VM/IM them personally with your reffing request, since that's how we generally do it on AIM.

Platypus Maximus is sent out to a clear, calm day. There are no traces of fowl weather at all. The yellow duck tilts his head to the side and appears to be thinking... or maybe forgetting something. Either way, his energy spikes, and it's noticeable. (Uses Amnesia)

Belle looks on curiously, looking out from under her green hat shyly. Then, her eyes go bright blue with psychic energy, and she locks gazes with the duck. Swirling spirals appear in her eyes, and one look at them sends the Psyduck nodding off. His head falls to the side as his eyes close, sound asleep. (Uses Hypnosis. Hits. Roll: 53)

@WinterVines; using a move that then fails due to sleep does not use PP, correct? Not that it really matters in this 1v1, but for future reference. @The Golden One; You're lucky that hypnosis hit!

The young adult trainer cursed under his breath; his Psyduck already had enough propensity to nod off on it's own without the opponent using Hypnosis.
He grumbled and said, "If you can hear this, and if you wake up, Platypus Maximus, use Water Pulse."
The trainer then sat near a tree and waited for his Pokemon to awake. (Using Water Pulse)

The boy showed no reaction to the successful move, and the Ralts stared intensely at the sleeping Psyduck. After several moments passed, it became obvious the Ralts was trying some kind of telepathic attack.

Belle uses Charm.

(The sleep mechanics are that the sleep timer has to hit 1 before it can wake up, right? So Mr. Platypus has no chance of waking up on the next turn?)

Correct, sleep lasts between 1-3 turns, and the counter increases by the message 'Xmon sleeps'. Also, in order for a move to reduce PP, it has to actually be performed. This means that missing will count toward using PP, but getting paralyzed will not.

The Trainer calls to his Pokemon in order to wake him, but the duck dozes on. A small bubble grows and shrinks at the corner of his bill as he breathes. (Psyduck sleeps.)

The Ralts, now feeling more confident in the battle, prepares another move. She spins around in place and looks adorable, surely going to make the duck strike less forcefully once he wakes. (Uses Charm, attack drops.)

The trainer finally looked up from behind his hat, and something prompted the Ralts to close her eyes and breathe deeply.

Belle uses Calm Mind.

Still sitting by a tree waiting for it's pokemon to awake, the Psyduck's trainer spoke up "I've changed my mind, Platypus Maximus. If you wake up, use Scald. If you don't wake, though, that's fine too I suppose." (Using Scald)

 

The Trainer calls out to his Psyduck once more, but the yellow Water-type doesn't hear. He only dreams of using fire-hot water techniques. (Psyduck sleeps)

Upon seeing that her foe is still in slumber, Belle gains a little more confidence and decides to prepare. She goes still and sharpens her mind, raising her senses. (Uses Calm Mind)

Obviously flustered at his Psyduck's mid-battle nap, the young trainer yells, "I hope you are getting some nice, boiling hot water in that stomach of yours, Platypus Maximus, because when you wake up that water better be flying at that Ralts over there, and it better be scalding."

(Attempting Scald again)

 

Belle did not move, continuing her quiet, peaceful serenity.
I believe more Calm Mind is in order.

 

Hearing his Trainer's call, the yellow duck shook himself awake suddenly, looking about as if confused. Then, abruptly let out a stream of steaming water in the Psychic-type's direction. The Ralts screeched as it hit her, the boiling water splashing her skin. There weren't any scorch marks, though, luckily for Belle. (Wakes and uses Scald. No burn. Roll: 89)

The Ralts seemed to calm down after the water attack, honing her senses once more. When she attacked, it would surely be powerful. (Uses Calm Mind)

"Now, Platypus Maximus." The Psyduck became extremely still, staring intently at the Ralts before it.

The yellow duck focuses, studying his foe very carefully. Soon, he's able to copy the same effects Belle had used. (Uses Psych Up)

Then, the Psychic-type's eyes start to glow an eerie blue color. Using her increased strength, she lets out a mental blast that almost tips the Psyduck over. (Uses Psychic. No drop. Roll: 62)

After shifting to a shoulder-wide stance, the trainer forcefully gestures towards the Ralts, grins, then exclaims, "Great job, Platypus Maximus. Before it gets another chance to make a move, blast it away with a full-force Hydro Pump!"
(Using Hydro Pump.)

 

Since Albino Cheesemonkey's opponent has seemed to gone inactive, I am calling this battle. Psyduck would win on the next turn if Hydro Pump hit, and since The Golden One is not responding to contact, I declare Albino Cheesemonkey the winner.

@Monbrey; Since Albino had only one mon when he started this battle (and it would've normally finished before he got more [gift station] if opponent had posted) can he still be eligible for pay?
