    Woo more vector art.

After sitting around for a couple days, I had this peculiar urge to draw more. This time I upped the difficulty and went for a Medium rank mon just to see if my skills had improved at all.

    About Sparks

In this one I was still holding on to using the official art for reference. I used images from Chargestone Cave to make the bridge, and that's what inspired me to go with the hazy and sparking background. I wanted to emphasize that I made the mon as close to the original as I could make it. Blitzle was much harder to create than my previous three, in both sketching and inking/coloring.

    Signature is sparkly.

    About Thunder Chariot

Here I ventured out into making my own pose and just using official art for reference in color and basic shape. I used more references of horse images to get it close to what I imagined. The idea for this came from Bulbapeida, in the Origin section:
Thus, Blitzle pulling a chariot across the sky as the sun rises was born.

Very poor signature due to much lagging in the wheel.

    Materials Used
    -Pencil
    -Sketchpad
    -Reference pictures
    -Scanner
    -Inkscape

    Pokemon Aiming For: Blitzle
Requirements: Medium > Two pieces of art featuring the attempted Pokemon scoring 50 or higher.

The image itself is very balanced. Blitzle is centered, and is obviously the focus of the image. In terms of color, the mottled blue background works well to set Blitzle apart. One nitpick is the cleanliness of the lines; There are a few spots where smoother lines would have enhanced the pokemon ‘just’ a bit. But thats me being fairly picky in this case, it doesn't necessarily detract from the image.

    Pokemon
Blitzle is quite accurate, nice light shading that isn't too sharp. Would have been nice to see a custom pose. Also would be better if BLitzle had been in some sort of action, or given some reason for being on the bridge and not posing for a picture.

    Environment
Theres a lot of nice elements going on here. I like the background and its misty, clouded appearance notable of some of those caves. It would have been nice to see some vague, indistinct shapes either looming or floating in the background, giving a better sense of scale to the image. A part of this image that I really like is the bridge. You gave it a nice appearance of an aged yet sturdy structure, and it definitely blends into the image well.

One part that did not seem to fit as well was the lighting of the image. The straight-down light source does not seem to fit with the cave setting you have aimed for. Something more fitting would have been perhaps a colored light source similar to the crystals found in the cave, or some visible light source in the image itself. Another part that felt out of place was the sparks assumingly sent out by blitzle. The method they were drawn gives them a closer appearance to glowing confetti. Maybe sharper, white pieces with a yellow glow could have given the desired effect, or something different altogether.

    Summary
In conclusion, I think the overall quality of this image is very nice, and with a few minor improvements as listed above, it would be a perfect image.

This is a fairly good image in general, pulling together around a central theme of bringing forth the day. in terms of balance, the image is both equally distributed in terms of color and weight/importance. In the background we have a very nice transition between the two extremes, works well in this case. Some of the lines on the chariot/pokemon are lacking in poerfect smoothness, but this is again me nitpicking.

    Pokemon
I like that you ventured outside the comfort box to create your own pose for this image. It gives a positive appearance of running through the sky. Anatomically and colorwise it is within acceptable ranges. The glowing, while not necessarily accurate, is quite acceptable in this case I believe as it gives the pokemon this effect of expelling its energy.

    Environment
I like the literal night and day differences that are occurring in the background of this, the changing of the time in the classical Greek sense. The best part of it would be that you transferred this to the shading of Blitzle, highlighting the rear as the sunlight follows it. The stars on the night side are rather cartoony though, which does detract from it in general. ALso, chariot would have been better with an actual pilot.

    Summary
The image is definitely a nice picture representation of the Greek chariot leading in the new day. A few details here and there could be improved, but I definitely see improvements in your vector work. Carry on doing this style!
