    I was feeling in the doodling mood again, and since the last one didn't turn out so bad, I thought I'd try this art thing again.

    Again, I tried to stick to the reference picture the best I could (which was Bulbapedia's page), and I kind of like the less wide head that I ended up with. The scanner dulled the colors a little bit, but it's way too late for me to try and adjust those settings. Knowing my luck, it's not even really fixable since it's not a standalone fancy one.

    I did try a little harder on the background this time--drawing something there deliberately instead of just doodles to take up space. I figured a good place for Starly to sit was up on a roof, so I used a picture I saw and made a sloppy one. I used bright colors on purpose so that the bird would contrast against them nicely, being so dark. The angles on the tiles are also meant to draw the eye upward from the bright reddish pink so that they land on the bird next. I think the shadows on the mon itself turned out a little better this time, and that may be because I was using black instead of a color. It was hard to watch smudges this time. I had to use a spare sheet of paper where my hands rested like we used to do in high school.

    Materials Used:

    @WinterVines;
    Starly - Simple
    Overall
    This is a really nice piece that looks well put together and uses some very nice tools.

    Dynamics
    I really like the background you have created with the roof and the shingles. I see that you've used the lines of the shingles as leading lines to draw the eye to Starly, and this works very well in this piece. I like the way that you've drawn the shingles from the reference, as it looks very similar and well done. All of your lines are clean and very well executed too. I would have loved to have seen Starly in a more dynamic position/ pose though, as well as I would have loved to have seen more detail in the background.

    Colours / Shading
    I like the colours in this and there really isn't much to complain about here, other than the hue of the roof just looks pinky. I don't know if you were going for a pink/purple roof, but it just looks odd to me. The shading is very well done here, with nice highlights and lowlights on the shingles and Starly. You gave us a clear direction that the light is coming from, which is very nice to see. I'd just have to critique that you missed some of the spots that could have been shaded.

    Pokemon Accuracy
    Starly looks pretty good here, a little skinny around the neck and long at the beak though, but that doesn't really matter all that much.

    Score
    In the end this is a pretty good piece that encompasses and reaches beyond what it needs for a pass. You get a 50 on this piece! Enjoy your little birdy now!
