    I feel like this might be a silly question, but are you CatCandle? You're probably aware that Art you submit must be your own, but I just wanted to make sure. Either way, you do need proof such as a signature in the corner of your piece. I would sign with your BMGf username just to be safe. Good luck on your capture, and nice work! =]

    Oh, sorry. In the description on deviantart it says "For UltraRPG."
    Is that enough? I don't have the file for layers anymore, as they lag my computer, so I cannot edit it. I am Catcandle.

    Maybe just edit your BMGf username to the description and that should be enough for now, though it's ultimately up to whomever curates your art.

    Hey Progress! I'll go ahead and claim this little guy for curation since you've been waiting a while. Hope to see you on AIM, too!

    @progressforth: Litleo curation done!

    Hey Progress,

    This is a really cute picture! I’m always curious about what medium artists use to create their images. This looks to me like it was drawn on a tablet, maybe with your finger or a stylus? Part of the reason I ask is because it’ll help me offer advice that fits the kind of art you like to create.

    Anyway, I’d like to start off by talking a little bit about the line work. Overall, the shape of Litleo’s body is solid, with some distinct areas where it could have been cleaned up. The one that jumps out first is the bottom-right portion of his head. I see you tried to make Litleo’s head roughly circular, but that part is kind of jutting outward. It looks like that’s where the beginning and end of the circle met. This, in particular, is the reason why I’m wondering what kind of tech you used to draw your picture. I know some kinds of software/technology make it easy to sketch and redraw things that come out wrong, like you can do with a pencil and eraser, while some make it very difficult. If you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to find a solution that is more forgiving when you want to try and touch up your pictures. You could probably accomplish this by using different layers for your outline and color, for example, or by hand-drawing a picture first, scanning it in, and then using that as a reference. There are lots of options out there, and I’d encourage you to explore them!

    Anyway, those places where you did have trouble making clean lines are not total deal-breakers. There are a few other places where you could probably have cleaned things up too. For example, Litleo’s right ear is quite a bit bigger than his left. Also, I think his back paws are a little too elongated, which makes his legs look as if they’re bent awkwardly. Other than that, though, there are some really awesome aspects of your picture, too.

    For example, I love Litleo’s expression! It’s impressive that even though you may have had trouble with other parts of Litleo’s body, you were able to create such great detail in his eyes. He seems to be putting some weight on his hindlegs, which combined with his crafty smile and his wide, but focused eyes makes it look like he’s playing a game with his friends, or maybe he’s about to pounce on a butterfly. The expression and his body language really added a lot to the picture!

    On that note, you might have considered adding some of those other details to the image. For example, what is he looking at? What else is around him? The background is pretty plain, though I think it fits the picture pretty well. I’d just like to point out that you’ve got all this visual real estate, and I bet there are some cool things you could have added in to really make the picture exciting.

    I do see a few other small details I’d like to point out that I think were well-done. For example, you’ve got some shading on Litleo’s ears and paws. I think you may have missed his face, however, which I would have expected to see a similar sort of shadow on. His body also doesn’t appear shaded, although that may be because I’m not in the best light. I’m guessing that because he has such a dark body, you may not have felt you could fit it in. In that case, you might have also considered adding in some highlights! Particularly around the top-right, where the light appears to be coming from, you could have experimented with some lighter outlines or something else to give the impression of light glinting off of his fur. I did also like the way you created a shadow under his body. That warm glow on the ground is kind of cool—on one hand, by shifting the hue, you created what looks like a shadow, but because it’s an orange color, it also seems like it’s partly emanating from Litleo’s body. The other reason it looks like that is because it’s all around his body, while a shadow would probably stretch out more in one direction.

    Grade

    I’m a little iffy on this one, because I would have liked to see cleaner lines. It’s not the “sketchy” aspect that bothers me, but the fact that the shapes are a little off in places. I also think the background is a little plain, although I imagine drawing all those blades of grass does take some effort. I love his expression though, and since this is your first URPG art submission, I’m happy to give you a 45/45! That means Litleo is captured! Hope to see more of your work soon!

    Thank you! This drawing is pretty old, I drew it with my finger on a Kindle, since then I got an actual Wacom Art Tablet, and am improving a lot.
