    @Elrond 2.0;

    Burmy Curation

    Form

    Everything looks pretty solid here. The leaves are placed in spots that are approximate with the official art, and even if they weren't, they look like they fit where they are, so that's fine. You have a few extra leaves too, but personally I think it looks better with more than fewer just to prevent those awkward bald spots.

    The faint line art works pretty well in this piece since it makes the entire thing seem more natural, which makes sense, since this form is the foresty kind. I think maybe, if anything, the dark lines around the eyes and nose are slightly too dark compared to the rest of the piece. That's really the only thing that's a bit out of place.

    Technique

    I definitely like the softer look here. Colored pencils are really nice for that if the artist takes the time to blend with them. Hard to do, but worth it. I think that with this particular Pokemon, that's a good look to go for, since leaves are generally waxy and smooth.

    The shading looks okay too. Everything is coming from the same angle, and I like how it's a gradient instead of a CEL-style. There are a few areas where this makes the leaves blend together, though, and it's hard to tell where one ends and other begins. This particularly happens with a few leaves under the nose. I think the lineart could've been brought out a little more there or perhaps some rim/reflected light to help the viewer's eye out a bit. Then the leaves would be distinguished from each other and from the grassy underpelt.

    Background

    Not much to say here, as there isn't one. And there should be. The piece feels very empty and barren without it, since we have no context for why Burmy is there, where it is, etc. The piece doesn't feel complete or unified with just empty space.

    Where it lives is a solid part of its form, so that could've been a nice detail. If it wasn't in the forest, that could've added to the story a bit, since there really isn't one here. And what is Burmy looking at? It's not the viewer, but something off the canvas. It sort of makes it have a blank stare which is slightly disturbing haha.

    This is not the first half dozen times curators have suggested backgrounds to you, so do them! Don't be a Mlouden and not take advice given. A picture doesn't feel complete without context.

    Result
    The Pokemon looks okay, but the background is very lacking. Think about adding them in your next pieces. For now though, I can score this 35/25 so that means Burmy is captured.
