I have very crappy coloured pencils so i apologise for the lack of good shading i did my best with the 1 colour pencil i had for each colour lol .... i will invest in a nice coloured pencil set at some stage for my future submissions XD i also am.not very good at backgrounds as of yet so.also apologise for the lack of imagination and depth in detailed backgrounds. I hope you like my drawing. Thank you.

Give yourself a break! Pat yourself on the back! You clearly put a lot of effort in this drawing!

In fact, I'll claim it for curation!

Hi! I hear you're new here! Well I'm glad you're doing art! It can be intimidating for the first time to do art, but I'm sure you'll soon grow to love making art here with us at URPG. Alolapix is a very cute pokemon whose evolution's typing makes it the ultimate dragon killer. Watch out for steel moves tho... (Just encore trap them in to ddance)...

    Anyway on to your critique:

First Impression: This is fairly interesting. The romantic painters (and generally every romantic) of the 1800's loooved the ideas of merging opposites and nature. And the most straightforward of those opposites were fire and ice. It is interesting that you picked up on how the Alolan Vulpix seems to be the complete opposite of its more common, fiery cousins. You have a split frame, which is interesting as you are literally juxtaposing the opposites together and I believer you have drawn each about equally well; however they are definitely recognizable and you clearly understand how shade with "very crappy coloured pencils." I think you had a little trouble merging these very different scenes, but I'm not holding that against you.

    Pokemon Likeness and Appearance:
In general, your pokemon aren't drawn perfectly there are different minor quirks deviating from the official artwork for each pokemon. That isn't a bad thing, but a thing to look out for when you are drawing two of the same pokemon. For intance, Vulpix is a naturally wide-eyed pokemon, often they look cartoonishly big or big and cute. I think you nailed Kanto's eyes, but I think the Alolan vulpix could use a little more work. Alolan Vulpix's hind legs sitting are coming out a tad too far while on the Kanto one they come out just right. Normal vulpix's mouth is a bit cartoonish and flat, and its head might be a tad bit too pointy, while on the other hand the Alolan Vulpix has a more accurate head. I'm kind of wishing that you shaded the Alolan Vulpix's body a bit more as it will add to the marvelous depth you given to its head bur and tail fur. Both Vulpixes have beautifully rendered head and tail fur.

    Technique and the nitty gritties:
Colored pencils are a bit difficult to manage, but I can tell you're already proficient in shading. Both vulpixes are drawn in a nice, delicate, dispersed lighting with a soft source in front of them. I'm a bit bothered why you put the sun behind the Kanto vulpix because she would be backlit. Suns are cheeery and fun, but often when you draw the sun we expect it to be a source of light like a lamp rather than just background decoration.

Speaking which, your backgrounds are rather cartoonish, but finding two scenes to place such opposites together seemed like the easier choice. I'm sure you could have thought of something to put them together sort like a yin-yang twins! Even if they're simply done, I'm glad that you made an effort and put some thought into it! For harder ranks I might not be so forgiving on split screen compositions but for now it is fine! :)

    Overall:
I'm glad you've dipped your toes into URPG's art world! The work you shown us clearly demonstrates you put time, effort, and thought into your artwork! You clearly know how to use colored pencils (and you can always hatch other colors + normal pencil on it as well) as well. I'd definitely like to see some more art! Have your alolan vulpix! (45/45)

This qualifies for the Alolan Art challenge, which means you get an extra bit of money for this! Unfortunately, I can't give you a stamp of approval for both the monthly theme and the Alolan Art Challenge! :(
