I WAS WITHOUT INTERNET BUT STILL HAD ACCESS TO A DRAWING PROGRAM SO THIS.

I took inspiration from the movie Shrek, when Shrek blows up a frog into a balloon and gives it to Princess Fiona. A truly touching scene. As such, here's an inflated Zubat.

@Princess Crow; Sorry about having to wait!

This style is so cute and adorable and aaaaahhhh I want one! It's an odd style, but I really like it. I also took that into account as far as anatomy is concerned.

And really, other than a little bulge for the body, the bottom two teeth, and the bone structure for the wings, nothing is missing. Those things are very minor anyway, especially on the body/teeth part, considering this is like a balloon. The wings don't even look that odd, although it does sort of seem like we're looking at the top/back of the wings instead of the front/underneath. I think you could've done the wings like you did the ears with the webbing in between. The way you stretched the color and blended those looks really cool, and it would've worked here too.

There's also considering that maybe Zubat could've been given something to do, like maybe a screech attack of some sort, but at Simple-rank, that's not really too necessary. It looks great with a nice stylistic twist.

    Technique

All around, the style is very adorable and you get so many points for that. It reminds me of a mod for Little Big Planet that I saw on Youtube with a ton of Pokemon in it. They were all in a similar style, like paper cutouts. I really liked it. It gives off a happy feel, which is usually the opposite of what Trainers feel in caves when swarmed by these things XD

The grainy textures are also really great, particularly in the ears, like I mentioned before. The cloudy-esque color of the wings also gives off a really nice skin texture. All the shadows look spot on. I really like the one on the bottom, where the tails are, although that one is pretty sharp compared to all the others.

It also seems like you missed a bit of shading and highlights on the right tooth, unless it's just very, very faint and difficult to see. It's not too noticeable unless you try to look at both teeth at the same time. One of the white marks looks a little odd on the left tooth as well—almost like it was an eraser, since it seems there was some shading underneath it. All very minor, though. One the whole, this definitely works for Simple.

    Background

There's not a whole lot of background in this piece, but in a way, that can be a good thing. Viewers are focused on the Pokemon then, and nothing else. I think what you do have in the background works. The textures on the floor and walls are great, and I really like the tunnel effect of the cave. It shapes the Zubat's body, drawing additional attention, and it also mimics its screech attacks like Supersonic. That was very well done.

I guess if I had to suggest something for the background, it would be to have something else in it. I'd be curious to see what other objects look like in this blown-up style, and depending on what you added (another Zubat flying around, some rocks or a hiding Pokmeon, a traumatized Trainer?), a story could develop. Even in pieces for lower-ranked mons, story is still important! Although I don't have to tell you that XD Small objects here and there can really add a lot, and it shows an artist's attention to detail.

    Result

I really love this piece. I want a plushie that looks like this right now. For Simple-rank, everything fit together nicely with a great style and fitting technique. I'm scoring this 40/35 so that means Zubat is captured!
