    Hey everyone! So, this is my gallery. Anyway, warning to the wise, I might put some stuff on my DA account later...if I like it enough. It's Tetra-007 if anyone's wondering. http://tetra-007.deviantart.com/ (If you need proof of THAT I could show you my empty Stash...errr...) >_>

    Gallery:

    Diglett
    Rank; Simple: 40 or Higher

    Three Digletts (I know, I'm crazy, that's cool...technically, it's still one [type of] Pokemon, I think... Oh dear crap, I hope I didn't break the rules...errr...) Don't get these guys messed up with a Dugtrio, they haven't evolve yet, though they really do want too! ;P

    diglettspick.png

    I had the Diglett/Dugtrio chant going through my head. Yeah, I still remember it. Such a dork.

    Now for the proof:

    diglettprintscreen.png
    (Lots and lots of layers...wowza...) xD

    digletts.png
    (Heh, you can see my real name on the original sketch...-__-)

    Hope ya like, until neeeext time... I might just go back to working on that story instead...maybe. D;

    @Eclipsi

    For Diglett

    Color/Form
    This image radiates a warm aura, due to the setting sun or wildfire in the background, whichever it is. The oranges and red complement the earthy tones of the Diglett trio shown. You also managed to place the pokemon centrally, using the angles of the dugtrio to move the eye towards the center of the picture. As far as balance within the image goes, the pokemon being centralized, with the sky and ground about equal, give this image a fair amount of weight all around.

    Pokemon
    Diglett is a fairly simple pokemon. So, I’m glad you managed to get it right. Each one looks correct, yet each has its own slight differences. The colors are spot on, so not much to say there. Only think I’ll hit you on is the cartoony shadows. For images of higher rank that usually should be much smoother transitions. But it seems to fit with the general appearance of the whole image in general.

    Environment
    So we have what I’m going to guess is a beautiful sunset going on in the background, with clouds idly blowing by. I say guess because its honestly a little hard to tell if you were going for that, or to show destruction and power by placing a wildfire behind Diglett. Make it more obvious which route you were going for for future images, I like the look of it either way. The ground could possibly use more textures, or perhaps grass closer to the mud around Diglett. It looks surprisingly barren, unless they are on a dirt mound that cannot be seen due to scale. The blades of grass you have in the background are good, especially the multiple-colored layers to show depth. As far as shading goes, its very rough, but it is correct as per the light source that you have defined in your image.

    Improvements
    1. Definition - try to give things like the background here a little more detail so we can make accurate assumptions about what's going on
    2. Smoothing out shading, and adding additional textures when necessary

    Score
    40/100

    Have yourself a Diglett

    Hey Axion, I hope it's alright to reply here. (Otherwise I'll just give you a pm in the future, but whatever...)

    Anyways, I was wondering if you could give any suggestions on a few things. I'm personally not much of a colorist, (at least not in this medium) and really I would like to get better at it. I'm just not really used to the tablet or not all that used to digital painting. It's still a little awkward... Though I prefer a cartoonier art style (I'm not a realist, I used to be, then I took an arrow to the knee...) Will my preference harm my grades? That doesn't really seem fair... But if you have any suggestions on how to make it smoother (or even how to shade more easily with a tablet) could you give me some? Saying "do this" or "do that" doesn't really help. What can I do to make it look more textured or 'smoother'? :p

    It really depends on what program you are using, but there are a few basic things. You can smooth shading by using your programs blur and smudge tool. You can also use more colors than the two shading colors you used to offer a smoother transition. Textures can be added via brushes, or any number of ways, again depending on the program. There are lots of tutorials online (youtube and elsewhere) that can offer specific textures.

    As per realism, it depends on how well you present your preferred art form. If the image is very well done, there is a chance for it to be accepted.
